My Secret Santa gave me a Kamenstein Tabletop Wine Opener. It rocks!!!!

Al, Jarrod and Rob took me out to dinner for my birthday. The place was called Toledo and it was a swanky (always wanted to use that word) place that served some fine authentic Spanish cuisine.
Afterward we hit the Macallan Scotch tasting and got schooled on scotch. I’ve had the good fortune of drinking some pretty expensive scotch but to have someone explain and teach you the intricities definitely heightened my enjoyment and appreciation of the drink.
Not ready to head home I met up with Chika and her friend from LA. We had flirted online for a while and I finally had the chance to meet her. Long story short; we met, we found each other unattractive for different reasons and will never speak again.
I was again reminded this evening that a persons fears and self-importance can bubble to up in conversation as a way to cope with their own sense of inferiority. These people are nothing more than oxygen thieves.
I awoke tired and completely wiped due to the previous nights Xbox Live marathon session with Al and Rob. Facing the reality of waiting in a long line at the mall I decide to just get my tux altered for the company Christmas party.
Afterward I played beat the clock by rushing to get my laundry done by 8 so I could meet up with Chika. The plan was to meet at Blvd for a charity event but I got stood up. Not ready to go home I gave George a call and we hit Vesta and Kana.
It was the first time George saw me at work and I was impressive. The student has become the master. . . kinda, not really. Who am I kidding, I’m still a rookie.
I spent my morning waiting in line and eventually buying absolutely nothing. Sounds like a terrible way to spend a Friday but it was fun to hang with Al and Rob.
Later in the evening feeling totally unmotivated I decided to stay in and play a little Grand Theft Auto 4 and Call of Duty 4 with Al and Rob. The Xbox 360 party system rules.
Flip flops, shorts and a green polo seemed like a good outfit in the morning but when the afternoon rolled around it became the wrong outfit. Somehow I managed to forget all about the NYCTV Fifth Anniversary event. Luckily Rob reminded me and that set off a flurry of phone calls. Who did I know that could get me in? Who could I reach?
Thankfully Chris saved me and hooked me up.
One of my co-workers decided to throw himself a birthday party on the roof of his apartment. Highlights included:
- Picking up this cute Korean girl.
- Watching Rob get fucked up.
- The view
The downside was getting rained on which would normally be cool but I decided to wear white linen pants.
Rob was playing with his band Bellow around the corner from my old apartment on the Upper East Side. Somewhere during the middle of his set I took a quick stroll. When I arrived at the building I looked up 4F and wondered who was living in my old apartment. Was he single or married?
When I returned I saw T standing outside smoking a cigarette and getting “sarged” by a red neck. I was tempted to see what T would do but got impatient.
While outside I confessed to her that I went to see my old place and how much I miss those days. They truly were the best years of my life. I had a place in the city and was living with the love of my life. What else could anyone ask for?
Sometimes I think I just buy things for two reasons:
- To say that I got it when it first came out.
- To take the plastic wrap off.
I picked up a copy Ninja Gaiden 2 (Ninja Gaiden is one of my favorite games) on Saturday and just took the wrapping off tonight. I didn’t even pop it in the 360.
I manged to get in a few quick games of Call of Duty 4 and realized I am leathal with that shotgun.
PS Rob I hate you and that knife.
Rob is one of my best friends and more importantly a Big Willy. Every few months he gets these special invites to Corbis sponsored events held at Soho House. I was lucky enough to be one of his guests. The place was amazing.
Afterward Laura and I met up with Pete for a drink at Keybar. The place was dead and I decided to hit Vig Bar for one more drink before heading home.
I met these two California girls and picked one of them up. For a normal looking dude I do alright.
Takashimaya New York
My good friend Christopher Ong invited me to his Mothers Day / Candle Collection party held at Takashimaya. I got to rub shoulders with a bunch of rich people and drink champagne. FABU!
230 Fifth
T, Rob, Al and I decided to hit the 230 Fifth. The roof had an amazing view but the crowd is fake. Bunch of posers! The one true highlight was our cab ride. It seems Charles Manson has been released from jail and allowed to take fares.
Sony BMG Party
Al and I really wanted to head home after 230 Fifth but a promise is a promise. Micheline had invited us to a Sony BMG sponsored party on the upper west side at eleven. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem but I felt out of place. I was wearing a suit! Regardless we headed up there and had a great time. We both walked away with stacks of new tunes.
