The drive back to NY seemed to take forever due to customs and traffic. While boarder crossing we watched these two yuppie assholes (in a Porsche) returning from a secret weekend getaway in Montreal. Clearly they were gay but in total denial. It was comical and sad at the same time.

After a relaxing afternoon at the Olympic Park we decided to check out old Montreal / Paris lite. I’ve never been to Paris or Europe for that matter but from all the movies I’ve seen it looked pretty similar The streets were narrow and the architecture was gorgeous. The only thing missing was Jerry Lewis.
My impression of the French can be summed up in three simple points:
- They make amazingly tasty bread
- Have a bleak outlook on life (existentialism)
and - All French women are promiscuous.
Most people would argue that this is a grossly inaccurate representation of the french. But keep in mind my first exposure to French culture was back when I was an impressionable sixteen year old attending an all boy catholic high school assigned to read the Stranger by Camus. I can’t help it if the scene where Meursault travels to the beach, meets Maria and within minutes hops in bed with her resonated so strongly.
Flash forward to present day and here I am sitting on the grass in a Montreal park when this woman strolls by and in less than five minutes invites me to take “a walk in the woods.” Looking back I guess I was a pretty perceptive sixteen year old. You have to love French women.
The women of Montreal are gorgeous and super friendly. I am not sure I will return to NYC.
It’s never a good idea to pack while drunk and it’s even worse to pack when you are drunk and watching a movie. You end up getting distracted and packing all the wrong things.
