I received an email from Kazumi this morning that offended me on many levels. Short of calling me a serf she claimed that I was uneducated and lacking class. Growing up I had to deal with people that would judge me based on where I was raised (South Bronx) and it vexed me. Mostly because its ignorant and totally unfounded. Especially when you consider that I have a better education and over come more adversity than most.
Lacking any patience for ignorant people I decided to cut her off for good. Good bye.
To say this film is bad would be the understatement of the year. What bothered me most was being subjected to Charlie Kaufman’s insecurities about his writing, life, death and fatherhood. It should be noted that Kaufman is known to be protective of his private life so perhaps this film was more therapy than film experiment.
Tonight Kazumi invited me to dinner at Resto. We ate at the bar and seriously discussed the possibility of dating. I must be crazy to think this is going to work. The best part of the night was when she picked up the bill.
She called to ask if I would meet her for coffee after work. I was beyond tired but heard her crying and knew it was serious. So much for getting rest.
Was it fear, regret or total confusion starting back at me. Her eyes, a deep black not unlike those found on a doll were one of her best and regrettably worst features. One minute they could be filled with life and in a blink go cold. On occasion those lifeless eyes would peer at me over dinner, while having sex or during an argument and all I could do was wonder, is she real?
I sat listening to her tell me why we wouldn’t work as a couple when, out of nowhere, her hand shot up and caught me on the right side of the face. My body went limp as my brain tried to process what had just happened. Then snap! Anger surged through me as my body tensed. All the non-verbal cues commonly associated with an apology washed over her face but it was those dead eyes that sealed her fate.

Step Brothers
I met up with Kaz for dinner and a movie. She wanted to see Stepbrothers and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested. Thankfully it turned out funnier than I thought. Sure it got slow in the middle but it finished strong.
Woke up early so we could get into the free MGMT and The Ting Tings show at McCarren Pool. When we got there the line was out the park and around the block. It was insane and not just cause of the length. It was the amount of hipsters gathered together in one spot. I haven’t seen that many vintage t-shirts and skin tight jeans in my entire life.
After three hours of standing on line (in the rain no less) we decided to ditch and get some Peruvian food. It was so good I’m actually starting to contemplate marrying a Peruvian woman.
After gorging ourselves on lunch we headed to Kelly’s place to play some Rock Band. On my way home I met up with Kazumi for dinner at Mojave. All in all the day didn’t go as planned but it was still a load of fun.
