Bubbly

January 7, 2009 General Comments

Bubbly was how she described me to Sui, over dinner.  At first I didn’t think anything of it but as I rode the train back into Astoria I started to question myself.  Do I act too nice? Am I not masculine enough? WTF.

Could this be the reason I am not attracting the women I want? I think I may need to reevaluate things.

Dinner and Scotch

December 5, 2008 General Comments

Al, Jarrod and Rob took me out to dinner for my birthday.  The place was called Toledo and it was a swanky (always wanted to use that word) place that served some fine authentic Spanish cuisine.

Afterward we hit the Macallan Scotch tasting and got schooled on scotch.  I’ve had the good fortune of drinking some pretty expensive scotch but to have someone explain and teach you the intricities definitely heightened my enjoyment and appreciation of the drink.

Not ready to head home I met up with Chika and her friend from LA.  We had flirted online for a while and I finally had the chance to meet her. Long story short; we met, we found each other unattractive for different reasons and will never speak again.

I was again reminded this evening that a persons fears and self-importance can bubble to up in conversation as a way to cope with their own sense of inferiority. These people are nothing more than oxygen thieves.

Glass Half Full

November 29, 2008 General Comments

I awoke tired and completely wiped due to the previous nights Xbox Live marathon session with Al and Rob. Facing the reality of waiting in a long line at the mall I decide to just get my tux altered for the company Christmas party.

Afterward I played beat the clock by rushing to get my laundry done by 8 so I could meet up with Chika. The plan was to meet at Blvd for a charity event but I got stood up. Not ready to go home I gave George a call and we hit Vesta and Kana.

It was the first time George saw me at work and I was impressive. The student has become the master. . . kinda, not really.  Who am I kidding, I’m still a rookie.

SOHO Grand

July 10, 2008 General Comments

After work I met up with Chika and Chris for drinks at the SOHO Grand.  It seems they had an interior decorator summer meet and greet.  I normally wouldn’t attend this sort of thing since most of the conversations would revolve around business.  But the location and promise of “talent” was to good to be true.

Afterward, Chris took us to this hole in the wall tapas place called Ñ.  It had a good vibe but it was definetly a date place.  On my walk home I decided to call Maki and have a little fun.

The Smallest City

June 25, 2008 General Comments

The smallest city has to be New York City. While sitting in the park having lunch with Chika I ran into Kazumi.  I haven’t seen her in months.

Kazumi
It’s easy to throw the word crazy around but in the case of Kazumi it’s pretty accurate. She isn’t clinically crazy but she has her moments. That being said I think she’s a good person at her core, just a little screwed up in the head.

So what do my friends think of her?

Al – Crazy! She’s cute with some nice qualities but she buries them.

T – In one word? Misunderstood perhaps that is why she acts the way she does.

Laura – Like a koala bear.

Note: One of my fondest memories of last summer was this night we went to a bar and played chess. It was so sexy.

Two Birds with One Stone

March 25, 2008 General Comments

I had my first Thai iced tea at lunch with Angela. She was kind enough to come all the way into the city for our “lunch date” at Rungsit.

I had promised Wilma, last week, I would go and support her friend, who was having a showing at Gallery Bar. Stupidly I forgot all about it and made plans with Chika to see Be Kind Rewind. Feeling the noose tighten and dreading the idea of bailing on Wilma I convinced Chika into having a drink before going to the movies. I figured I could make everyone happy and support the arts.

After a quick drink Chika and I hit the theater. I found the film cute but defiantly lacking in the plot department. It felt like an excuse to do all these amazing old school camera tricks. I guess it wouldn’t be a Michael Gondry film without them.

Sony Bravia

March 10, 2008 General Comments

I’m so happy that I finally have the TV of my dreams but I’m also nervous about the impending retinal damage.

My new apartment has a very small bedroom and large living room which sounds perfect but the problem is I have so much bedroom furniture that I’ve had to switch the layout. Making the large living room my bedroom and the small bedroom into my living room.

So how small is small? Well I think the exact room dimensions are 7 x 10 which isn’t that bad until you factor in the placement of the window and the heater. Once those are taken into consideration you encounter a ton of layout issues, leaving you with only one possible layout. A 46” Sony Bravia LCD flat panel mounted on the wall only 5 feet from your face. That’s my living room.

My eyes are going to explode and yellow yolk will run out. Just like a Cadbury Creme Egg placed in the microwave ;) .

PS Why didn’t you get a smaller TV? Go big or go home, hater!

Update

1) Ran into Chika at Banana Republic. She helped me pick out all my new clothes. She is super sweet and has an amazing sense of fashion

2) Saw Rob play with his band Bellow. They were fucking amazing, as usual. They played this new song titled “Awful” and it was fucking great. I really think their sound is maturing.

Neko Nyanbou

A while ago I mentioned Chika had gone to Japan for New Years and brought me back a bunch of cool little knick-knacks. One of them I specifically requested is called the neko nyanbou. It’s an artificial, bionic, prosthetic cat paw.

I could write for hours on end about the many applications but instead I’ve decided to include a few pictures that illustrate some of its most basic uses. Enjoy.

Atonement

January 13, 2008 General Comments

Went to Best Buy with George and purchase a Bluetooth remote for my PS3.

Met up with Chika and saw Atonement, it was good but needed editing. The cinematography was utterly amazing. Chika is super sweet she got me a ton of shit from Japan among them was the coveted cat paw.
