Worked a fifteen hour day and still managed to get a drink with Pab and Al. Surprisingly, Vig Bar was packed considering the bitter cold weather. Tempted to run home I opted to stay out a little longer and picked up a woman outside the bar that looked like Lindsay Price.

Had dinner with Al at Agave and worked everything out. Oddly enough it felt more like a formality considering I was so over it.
Al, Jarrod and Rob took me out to dinner for my birthday. The place was called Toledo and it was a swanky (always wanted to use that word) place that served some fine authentic Spanish cuisine.
Afterward we hit the Macallan Scotch tasting and got schooled on scotch. I’ve had the good fortune of drinking some pretty expensive scotch but to have someone explain and teach you the intricities definitely heightened my enjoyment and appreciation of the drink.
Not ready to head home I met up with Chika and her friend from LA. We had flirted online for a while and I finally had the chance to meet her. Long story short; we met, we found each other unattractive for different reasons and will never speak again.
I was again reminded this evening that a persons fears and self-importance can bubble to up in conversation as a way to cope with their own sense of inferiority. These people are nothing more than oxygen thieves.
I awoke tired and completely wiped due to the previous nights Xbox Live marathon session with Al and Rob. Facing the reality of waiting in a long line at the mall I decide to just get my tux altered for the company Christmas party.
Afterward I played beat the clock by rushing to get my laundry done by 8 so I could meet up with Chika. The plan was to meet at Blvd for a charity event but I got stood up. Not ready to go home I gave George a call and we hit Vesta and Kana.
It was the first time George saw me at work and I was impressive. The student has become the master. . . kinda, not really. Who am I kidding, I’m still a rookie.
I spent my morning waiting in line and eventually buying absolutely nothing. Sounds like a terrible way to spend a Friday but it was fun to hang with Al and Rob.
Later in the evening feeling totally unmotivated I decided to stay in and play a little Grand Theft Auto 4 and Call of Duty 4 with Al and Rob. The Xbox 360 party system rules.

The first fifteen minutes are hilarious, thanks to John Turturro, but then the movie runs out of steam. Oddly enough Al looks a lot like John Turturro.
I should have been happy but I couldn’t help but feel sad that our plans to visit Argentina in November were kaput. As well as visiting Japan with Mihoko. Thankfully the DTAS crew were putting together a trip to Mexico in November. Lets hope this actually materializes.
A week ago my white shades and Al’s need for shoes landed us free tickets to see Estelle perform live at the InStyle magazine party. Imagine my excitement when we walked in and were reminded that InStyle is a woman’s magazine. Al and I were two out of a handful of men invited to a 500+ party attended predominately by beautiful women.
A few cocktails and some great tunes later I walked up to the hottest woman and worked my magic. We talked for a while before exchanging numbers. I ROCK!!!!
Al got back from Wisconsin and wanted to meet up with the fellas for a quick drink. I had plans to go camping Saturday and knew it was a bad idea.
While walking to meet then in the Lower East Side I bumped into Ada. We first met a year ago when I was dating Pegi and fell in love instantly. I was running late so I asked her for her number before jetting.
A few beers at Spitzers, then Boss Tweeds and a nightcap at Vig meant I wasn’t getting home till 4:30am. I managed to get an hour and a half of sleep. I’m so fucked for camping.
Kelly and Jarrod decided to throw a big summer BBQ and to say it was good would be a huge understatement. The food was ridonkulous. I normally stop eating when I’m full but I couldn’t help myself. I just kept stuffing my face. By my count I had:
- 2 Spring rolls
- 1 Kebab
- 1 Cheeseburger
- 2 Helpings of Mac and Cheese
- 2 Pieces of chicken
- 2 Hot Dogs
I think if Kelly prepared the food, Jarrod manned the grill and they started taking reservation they could open the best restaurant in LIC. They wouldn’t even need to rent a place, just leave the nights reservations at the front desk as “guests.”
PS I’m so lucky to have AL as a friend. Are you happy ERIK!?
