With a 97% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and the critics hailing it as “a near perfect movie” I couldn’t help but get excited. Sadly, the film is a huge disappointment and to even call it good is a stretch. Ranging from stereotypical action movie to standard indie character study (long ambiguous takes) The Hurt Locker fails to find a balance. Quickly devolving into a mediocre war film that explores no new ground.
If you are searching for a war film with a character study slant, I recommend Tigerland.
