June 28, 2009 General Comments

I don’t want my blog to look like the obituaries but celebrities are dying left and right.  The newest addition is Billy Mays.

Revolutionary Road

Director Sam Mendes once again explores the theme of self-fulfillment. At times the film feels like a retread from his earlier work (American Beauty) but still manages to do enough to set it self apart.

Che part 1

I think Steven Soderbergh is highly over rated and Che is definitive proof of this fact. The narrative meanders and Soderbergh misses opportunities to engage and challenge the audience. On a positive note Benicio turns in an amazing performance but even that can’t save this film.

I was never a huge fan but I can’t deny his impact on music and pop culture. Here are my three favorite MJ songs.

Amazing Stories

June 24, 2009 Television Comments

Decided to start watching one of my favorite sci-fi episodic shows, Amazing Stories. I had purchased the complete first season a while back but never got around to watching it. Favorite episode:

The Mission
Kevin Costner and Kiefer Sutherland shine in the thrilling one-hour episode where a routine World War II mission quickly becomes a life-or-death situation for a young bomber with a damaged piece of landing gear.

Morbidly Hilarious

I caught the last few minutes of this documentary on the IFC (Independent Film Channel) and decided to catch the rest of it on Hulu.

The documentary takes a deeply personal look at the lives of four struggling actors impersonating superheros on Hollywood Boulevard. Overall I found the documentary interesting and worth checking out.  Click here to view now.

My House Plant

As far back as I can remember my mother had house plants. So I find it odd that I never thought about getting a few of my own. Maybe it’s time I got a tiny roommate.
