Night at the Museum

I think I just wanted to see all the cool special effects.  Movie felt like a made for television Hallmark movie.

Geek Pron

November 8, 2008 General Comments

It’s a rare occasion when you can combine your geek love for video games with sneaker fashion.  Feast your eyes on the Nike Air Classic BW – Nintendo sneakers. I so want these.

Note: Pron is intentionally spelled that way.

It seems the idea of doing a midnight launch for video games has become the norm with triple A titles. Being an über need I couldn’t resist picking up a copy of GOW2 just so I could be among the first to anally rape people with my chainsaw.

Phantom Dust

November 6, 2008 General Comments

I was at 1Up.com today looking at my first attempt at blogging and found an entry I felt belonged here. I guess it was the only entry that felt “pure.” Enjoy!

I’ve been thinking about what to write in regard to Phantom Dust but I am a ball of emotions right now. I want to rant and rave about how amazing the game is but worry I will come off as a fan boy (I hate that). Sure I can go from rooftop to rooftop screaming at the top of my lungs, “Phantom Dust Is Amazing.” Instead I will blog it cause my experience with the game was and still is quite personal.

So here is a list (in no specific order) detailing what I love about Phantom Dust

  • Graphics are breath taking
  • Art direction is inspired
  • Story is deep and philosophical
  • Game mechanics perfect and balance
  • Online is addictive, regardless if you win or lose battles

Now if the reasons above don’t grab your attention, I leave you with this final thought (I am sure I will get crap for this). Phantom Dust is the first game I have ever played (I’ve been playing games for 10+ years) that qualifies as a piece of ART in my book. Yup, you read right, ART! I know people will say Katamari Damacy, Zelda or even Jet Set Radio Future but I only consider those games aesthetically pleasing but devoid of true meaning. Are they entertaining yes but do they make you sit back and ponder what constitutes a soul? Is life nothing more than a mere collection of memories? Phantom Dust differs from those and a slew of other games on the market because it raised many questions and provided few answers. Those answers I must find on my own.

PS Run out and get Phantom Dust cause if you don’t, you are only doing yourself a disservice.

A Better Tomorrow

November 5, 2008 General Comments

I laid in bed thinking about last nights historic event when suddenly a sense of patriotism and tranquility long forgotten once again filled my ghost. Barak Obama won and our nations future looked bright.

The Price of Freedom

November 4, 2008 General Comments

On any given day the price would be debatable but today, election day, freedom cost me $108.32

Instead of putting my headphones on I carelessly slung them around my collar. As I made a mad dash for the South Bronx bound 6 train they fell off.

I stood in the voting line headphone-less thinking, Barack better win.  Freedom’s expensive!

Fuck You AT&T

November 3, 2008 General Comments

Ever notice how easy it is to pay your bill or add service? Now try to remove or cancel service, it’s a nightmare.

Tonight I called to apply my company discount toward my “talk plan” and I might as well have been trying to walk a deaf person through diffusing a bomb over the phone. Frustrated with long hold time and level of incompetence I gave up.

They won this round but I’ll be back.

Nip / Tuck

November 2, 2008 General Comments

I’ve been home more often and now have the time to catch up on all these great television shows I’ve missed: Mad Men, Californication, Entourage and Nip / Tuck

It has a very sick and twisted vibe mixed with a Miami Vice cool.  Thats right, I said Miami Vice.  It was cool back in the day, don’t front.
