They need to stop taking old TV shows and making them into movies. It always feels like a bad breakup. The love and romance you once had is gone and no matter how hard you try to rekindle that magic you fail.
The audience has changed and no matter how much you try to spice it up with new actors and special effects it just feels old and desperate.
I awoke tired and completely wiped due to the previous nights Xbox Live marathon session with Al and Rob. Facing the reality of waiting in a long line at the mall I decide to just get my tux altered for the company Christmas party.
Afterward I played beat the clock by rushing to get my laundry done by 8 so I could meet up with Chika. The plan was to meet at Blvd for a charity event but I got stood up. Not ready to go home I gave George a call and we hit Vesta and Kana.
It was the first time George saw me at work and I was impressive. The student has become the master. . . kinda, not really. Who am I kidding, I’m still a rookie.
I spent my morning waiting in line and eventually buying absolutely nothing. Sounds like a terrible way to spend a Friday but it was fun to hang with Al and Rob.
Later in the evening feeling totally unmotivated I decided to stay in and play a little Grand Theft Auto 4 and Call of Duty 4 with Al and Rob. The Xbox 360 party system rules.
After work we hit Black Bear Lodge, got loaded up and then set out on a mission to find Caracas Arepa. It wasn’t the fanciest place but the arepas were amazing. I ordered the A8. DE PABELLON: shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and aged cheese. My tummy highly recommends it.

LOVED IT! Sure the droids banter is lame and the inclusion of a hut baby into the main plot is stupid but the movie is fun.

I normally don’t include the plot in my posts cause I believe the movie poster and my impressions should be enough to get you to run out and see it, or avoid it. In the case of The Fall the plot needs to be mentioned.
The Plot (according to IMDB)
In a hospital on the outskirts of 1920s Los Angeles, an injured stuntman begins to tell a fellow patient, a little girl with a broken arm, a fantastical story about 5 mythical heroes. Thanks to his fractured state of mind and her vivid imagination, the line between fiction and reality starts to blur as the tale advances.
My Impression
I was stunned by the gorgeous visuals but saddened at how poorly the story was told. It almost feels like director, Tarsem Singh treated the story as an afterthought. Regardless it should be seen.

Brilliant! It’s been a while since I’ve seen a good horror film and even longer since I’ve been to a musical. To see both done so well is refreshing.

The first fifteen minutes are hilarious, thanks to John Turturro, but then the movie runs out of steam. Oddly enough Al looks a lot like John Turturro.

The film is greatly unbalanced in tone, which ranges from deep psychological thriller to music video. Regardless I found it enjoyable.
