She was running late and wondered if it would be OK to meet at 8:30 instead of 8:00. I was already out drinking with Al and figured it was no biggie.
We planned to meet at Momoya (they don’t accept reservations) and I decided to arrive early and put my name down. Table for two please! As I stood outside waiting for Christina L. I got a chance to admire the sun set before realizing it was 8:45.
My blood began to boil at the level of disrespect and lack of courtesy. Who did she think she was?
As I rode the train home I received an email asking where I was. My reply was as follows:
I can live with 30 minutes late considering you had the courtesy to call but to then arrive and additional 15 minutes late is unacceptable when you factor in the fact it’s our first date, GOODBYE!
Please lose my number and email.
I felt good about my decision to leave and on top of that, saved money.
Woke up early so we could get into the free MGMT and The Ting Tings show at McCarren Pool. When we got there the line was out the park and around the block. It was insane and not just cause of the length. It was the amount of hipsters gathered together in one spot. I haven’t seen that many vintage t-shirts and skin tight jeans in my entire life.
After three hours of standing on line (in the rain no less) we decided to ditch and get some Peruvian food. It was so good I’m actually starting to contemplate marrying a Peruvian woman.
After gorging ourselves on lunch we headed to Kelly’s place to play some Rock Band. On my way home I met up with Kazumi for dinner at Mojave. All in all the day didn’t go as planned but it was still a load of fun.
I should have slept in and gotten four hours of sleep but I decided to played it safe and go to work on time. All day I struggled to stay awake and when I finally did make it home, I collapsed on the couch.
Two hours later I was jolted out of sleep. The old crew was having a reunion and George called to invite me. I tried to turn him down but he showed up at my doorstep. It was nice to see the guys but I had to bail early so I could meet up with Akiko at Pacha.
Toward the end of the night I started getting drunk and I blame it on the punch. Sure I could blame it on all the beers I had at Black Bear Lodge or my first game of Beer Pong (which I won) at Boss Tweeds. But I am certain it was the punch. After all these weeks of drinking and not getting drunk I started to get worried.
I started watching the Sopranos while I waited for the clothes to dry. I loved Paulie’s (Tony Sirico) rant on the Italians missing the boat on the whole Starbucks / coffee crazy.
Another day without Downy fresh clean clothes and I have no one to blame but myself. Before anyone gets the impression I’m some dirty guy that flips his underwear inside out let me just say I’ve been wearing clean clothes. They are just the clean clothes you hate to wear and inhabit the back of your dresser drawer or closet. They are the old faded jeans and t-shirts only used when you are helping a friend paint or a loved one garden.
