I had to meet Angela for dinner in Chinatown around eight. With two hours to kill I headed down earlier so I could pick up a copy of Grand Theft Auto 4. While there I also placed a special order for ICO on the PS2.

We had a great dinner at one of her favorite little restaurants but sadly it was their last day. While eating I noticed that Angela has this elegance about her that intrigues me. I’ve noticed it before but couldn’t place my finger on it.

I told her that every time I see her I feel like I’m in a Wong Kar Wai movie (In the Mood for Love and 2046). She thought it was due to her being Asian but I think it has more to do with her being so reserved and elegant. When we touch it’s electric.

Note: She looked amazing!

Laundry was the highlight of my day and I’m starting to notice a trend.  It seems I have made Tuesday my official laundry day.  In doing so I’ve made Tuesday lame and I know Tuesday has way more potential than just being laundry day.

Can You Feel the G-Force?

I woke up extra early so I could catch the 8 o’clock bus to Jersey.  The courthouse opens at 9:00 and I was hoping I could pick up the bail money I lent a friend and still make it to work on time.  No such luck, I got to work late.

George came over to drop off a few things. I convinced him to hang out and play Burnout Paradise on the 360. I was sad when he had to leave, fuck work!

Morning
The plan was to meet Elena for our first date around two in the afternoon but she hadn’t called. Nevertheless I decided to head into the city, I figured she would meet up with me or cancel.

When I exited the train Elena called and told me she wouldn’t be able to make it. Normally I would have been irked but it was the first Sunday I was up early and in the city with no concrete plans.

The idea of growing old and sitting alone drinking coffee in a McDonalds has always been one of my greatest fears and here I was in a diner near Union Square doing that exact thing. Was this a warning sign of things to come if I kept this lifestyle?

Afternoon
KJ had invited Al to a party at her place and I figured I would tag along as his guest. When we arrived I was amazed at the number of people in her apartment. Actually it wasn’t the number that amazed me it was their ability to hang out in her stuffy 104-degree apartment. Don’t get me wrong her place was nice but I could feel my face melting.

I left the party after only 5 minutes and decided to meet Nice for dinner at Noho Star. With two hours to kill I decided to have a Kung Fu moment and walk the earth accompanied only by my thoughts. It was refreshing.

Evening
Al dropped in for dinner and it was a nice surprise. I was really feeling out of it after the walk and I wouldn’t have been good company.

After dinner we hit Vig and had a great conversation. Somehow the combination of the walk, company and booze loosed something in my head allowing me to have an epiphany.

Last nights willingness to ride in the trunk was no accident. Thoughts from earlier in the week regarding coffins and being trapped in an elevator left an impression. When the opportunity arose to subject myself to these conditions I didn’t hesitate

I wanted to keep my Saturday low key but once again I failed. The plan was to get up make a small breakfast, meet D for lunch and invite the guys over to play video games.

My Small Breakfast
I woke up craving a western omelet with a side of tater tots and decided to finally use my kitchen.  The meal came out great but I made one slight oversight.  At my old place I use to leave my pepper mill, kosher salt and olive oil on the stove for easy access.
It seems I won’t be able to do that at my new place since the new stove radiates an intense amount of heat.  It caused the pepper mill to melt and the olive oil (stored in a pressurized container) to almost explode.

The Park
We met at Astoria Park for a lazy stroll and lunch at one of the cute little restaurants that line the park.  D is a really great person but I don’t see it going any further than “fun.”

Walter’s Birthday
The plan to play video games had to be placed on hold since it was Walter’s birthday.  We met to the Beer Garden and polished off a few pitchers before heading over to the Penthouse Club.

We tried to squeeze into Pab’s Honda Accord but five guys was already a tight squeeze and we were a party of six. Confronted with the possibility of Pab getting a ticket or having to ditch someone I jumped in the trunk.

Strange shit runs thru your head when you are locked in a small space that could crumple in and kill you.  It was exhilarating, scary and stupid but I loved every moment.

Note

  • The trunk was pretty comfy and Pab could easily fit two bodies in his trunk.
  • Walter is super cool.

After work I met up with Angela for dinner at Elephant.  She loved everything about the place and I have to admit I was surprised.  Not because the food or the place aren’t amazing, they are, but earlier in the evening while being seated the owner made a comment about seeing us on Sunday.  His little comment would have been accurate had he left out the “us” part.

I tried to dismiss the comment with a joke but he insisted again and again it was us.  By this point Angela knew I had brought another women here.  Irritated, I wanted to yell out, “yes you saw me on Sunday but not with this girl so if you don’t mind shut the fuck up!”

Afterwards the plan was to hit Black Fin to collect my night of free drinking.  My name was randomly picked for a night of free drinking.  I originally planned to go alone and meet up with a few friends but decided at the last minute to invite Angela.  It was the best move I’ve made all year. As the night went on a bunch of pals showed up and made a great night even better till I was taken advantage of.

Angela and I had been flirting and making out all night.  I wanted to take her home but knew she had to go to work early in the morning.  I put her in a cab home and jumped in a cab with Al and T.  We were headed to Vig when T made her move.  Knowing I had nine Gin and Tonics in my system, plus I was still hot and bothered from Angela she leaned in and began kissing me.  I caught myself and pulled away, what the fuck?

T is my friend and I just don’t see her that way.  On various occasions people have asked whether or not we were something and my answer has always been the same, NO!  I don’t see her that way and I just don’t want to ruin a good thing.  I hope this doesn’t fuck up my trip to St. Martin.

Today was the beginning of a three-day drinking marathon.  I know I’ll end up paying for it next week but I couldn’t pass up free drinks.

I convinced Al to lie and say he was an employee at my company just so he could get into the Eyeblaster party being held at Slate.  Two car bombs and six gin and tonics later we crashed a private company Karaoke party at DUET 35.  I never got a chance to sing.

My Other Work Crush
We both had plans that started later in the evening so we decided to kill time by flirting over a few glasses of wine. She chose this small little restaurant tucked away on a side street that was perfect for a drink after work.

I was sad when I looked at my watch and realized it was time for me to meet up with Jina. I was dreading the idea of another argument and would have much rather spent the rest of the night getting lost in my new drinking partners eye’s. ;)

Final Round
The plan was hamburgers at Stand and some conversation but as soon as we were seated the pointless arguing began. She had convinced herself that I was incapable of viewing her as a friend after I expressed my feelings at Rayuela a few weeks ago.

Sitting here in front of me was this woman that on our first date came off cold and conceited. Maybe it was the loneliness I saw in her eyes or this gut feeling I had that she was a good person that convinced me to befriend her. We quickly became friends and would meet up to watch a movie every Wednesday. Wednesday’s became weekends at the museum and dinner with friends.

The more we hung out the more she opened up and what I saw was wonderful and extremely attractive. I was completely caught off guard and felt the need to confess my feelings.

It’s hard to convince someone once they’ve made up their mind and Jina had defiantly made up hers. I was sincere about my intention regarding friendship but couldn’t deal with her drama.

Tuesday is offically laundry day for Tamayo. I planned on getting all my clothes to smell Downy fresh but sometimes things don’t go as planned. They go better than planned. At around 10pm D called and asked if I was interested in drinks.

Have I mentioned how much I love Astoria / Ditmars ;)

She Called!

No matter how cool I want to be I can’t get past the fact that I’m a big dork with a shit load of insecurities.

All weekend I thought about the girl I picked up on Friday. I had called and left her a message on Saturday asking if she was interested in getting dinner but never got a reply. On Monday I sent her a txt but it was now 10pm and I still hadn’t heard anything back.

I began to get worried that she was drunk or just humoring me. Luckily she called and made my night.
